“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” — Matthew 4:4 (NIV)

Forty days hungry in the wilderness, and the tempter struck at the appetite first. But Jesus didn’t argue or negotiate — He answered with Scripture: “It is written.” Temptation is real, but it is not irresistible. God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit, and Jesus shows us how to wield it. Notice: He entered the wilderness full of the Spirit. The Spirit may lead us into the battle, but the Word wins it. When the enemy whispers, don’t trust your feelings — open your Bible. What you feed on determines what you defeat.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, when temptation comes, teach me to answer with Your Word. Fill me with Your Spirit, and make Scripture my daily bread. Amen.
