“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”11. Matthew 26:39
In Gethsemane the King falls on his face under the weight of what lies ahead. He does not pretend the cup is light. He carries his dread openly to the Father, then lays it down: not as I will, but as you will. True obedience is won here, before the crowd gathers and the cross is raised. We follow him the same way, telling God plainly what we fear, then trusting his purpose over our preference. The garden comes before every hard obedience. Our strength is found in the same surrender.
Prayer: Father, when obedience feels heavy, teach us to pray like Jesus prayed. Let us bring our fear to you and find our strength in your will. Amen.
