Daily Devotional: Matthew 25

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” (Matthew 25:40)

Matthew 25 closes with the King separating the sheep from the goats, and the verdict turns on one thing: how they treated the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the prisoner. Both sides are surprised. The righteous had no idea they were serving Christ himself. Kindness had become their way of life, without calculation. The King does not ask for impressive credentials. He looks for a heart awake to him, shown in small acts of love. To wait for his return is to serve the people he loves today.

Prayer: King Jesus, open our eyes to the least around us. Make mercy our reflex, and teach us to serve them as we would serve you. Amen.
