“Surely he was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:54)
The cross was meant to silence Jesus. Instead, it drew the loudest confession of the whole trial. The priests mocked, the crowd demanded his death, and the soldiers gambled for his clothes. Yet a Roman officer, an executioner, looked up and saw the truth. He had watched men die before, but never a King die like this. Many watch Jesus from a distance, carrying opinions about him. The centurion watched and was changed; he knelt in wonder and called him what he is. He gave everything to prove he is the Son of God. Confess him as your King today.
Prayer: Father, thank you for the cross where Jesus gave his life for me. Forgive me for admiring him from a distance. Today I confess him as Lord. Help me live under his kingship. Amen.
