Daily Devotional: Mark 2

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:17)

In Mark 2, the King works among people the respectable pass by. He forgives a paralyzed man lowered through a roof and eats with sinners. Religious leaders object, but Jesus will not bend his kingdom to their rules. His forgiveness, his table, and his Sabbath lordship declare one truth: this King gathers his people himself. That is the Church he still builds: people who needed a doctor, now welcoming others to the table. We follow him when we stop guarding the door and carry friends to Jesus. Bring someone with you this week, in prayer, in conversation, in an open chair.

Prayer: King Jesus, forgive and heal us, and make your Church a table of grace. Amen.
