“Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” (Mark 7:15)
The religious leaders measured faithfulness by washed hands and kept traditions. Jesus turned the question around. The King does not measure his people by the outside, by rituals kept or appearances managed. He looks at the heart, where words and choices are born. Greed, pride, envy, and harsh words come from inside, and they poison a life and a church. So the Church under King Jesus does not polish the outside while leaving the heart untouched. We bring him the inside, honestly and daily, and ask him to wash us there.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, King of our hearts, wash us from the inside out. Give us honest hearts, gentle words, and lives that show your reign. Amen.
