Daily Devotional: Matthew 17

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5)

From the bright cloud the Father’s voice gave one command: “Listen to him!” Peter wanted to hold the moment and build three shelters, as if glory were something to keep. The Father gently redirected that instinct: glory turns our ears toward Jesus’ words. Then the glorious One came and touched the trembling disciples: “Get up,” he said, “don’t be afraid.” He is radiant with God’s glory, and near enough to touch. We chase strong moments with God and forget the simple word: listen. Before your day fills with noise, let his voice be the first you hear.

Prayer: Father, I have admired your Son’s glory; now teach me to listen to his voice. In a noisy world, tune my heart to Jesus. Amen.
