“For many are invited, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)
Jesus tells of a king who prepares a wedding feast and sends his servants to the street corners, inviting anyone they find. The doors stand open to the least likely guests. But one man comes without wedding clothes and is turned away. The feast is free, but the king expects the garments his own house provides. We enter the kingdom by grace alone, and grace itself clothes us in Christ’s righteousness. The same commission reaches the church today. Every street corner is a mission field. Every stranger is an invited guest. So let us not keep the banquet to ourselves. Go, and bring them in.
Prayer: Father, thank you for opening your banquet to us. Clothe us in Christ’s righteousness, and teach us to carry your invitation into every street we walk today. Amen.
