“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” — Matthew 7:24 (NIV)
Jesus ends His sermon with a picture of two builders. Both hear His words; only one acts on them. The difference is not information but obedience. Hearing without doing is sand — it looks like faith until the storm comes. Storms come to the wise and foolish alike. Obedience is the quiet, daily work of digging to the rock: forgiving when it costs, praying when no one sees, walking the narrow road today. The promise is not a life without rain, but a house that still stands when the rain falls.
Prayer: Lord, make me a doer of Your Word, not a hearer only. Build my life on the rock of obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
